Exhorting the people to not get swayed away by the hollow slogans of the opposition parties, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said that they must elect only true public servants rather than ‘entertainers’ for ensuring better progress of state and prosperity of its people. Addressing the gathering during the second day of Sangat Darshan program in Dhuri assembly segment, the Chief Minister slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for misleading the people by showing them green pastures. He said that it was a well known fact that the elected MPs of AAP have miserably failed to deliver anything to the people. Badal said that anyone could entertain the people by catchy slogans but only the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) was committed to serve the people and safeguard the interests of Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabiat. Assailing the Congress party for misleading the poor and downtrodden sections of the society in order to fulfill its vested political interests, the Chief Minister said that instead of formulating the policies for the development of the weaker sections of society the Congress, which has ruled the country for several decades, has always deceived them by depriving their legitimate rights.

He said that it was the age-long policy of the Congress to deny basic facilities to weaker sections of the society and hoodwinked them through false slogans. Mr Badal said that the net result of all these anti-poor policies of the Congress party was that this strata of society was today confronting a number of problems. However, the Chief Minister said that whenever the people of Punjab have bestowed upon the responsibility of serving the state to them, the SAD-BJP alliance government has accorded top priority to ensure the welfare of weaker sections of the society. He said that the pro-poor schemes like Shagun, Atta-Dal, Mai Bhago Istri Vidya Scheme and others have been launched by his government, for safeguarding the interests of the poorest of poor in the society. Badal further said that his government would continue to make endeavors for safeguarding the interests of these underprivileged sections of the society, who have played a key role in the overall development of the country in general and Punjab in particular.

The Chief Minister further said that state Congress leaders were unnecessarily creating a hue and cry over the Sangat Darshans in the state. He said that Sangat Darshan was an integral part of state’s governance as it virtually brought the government at the doorsteps of people thereby bridging the communication gap between the masses and administration, which normally hindered the process of progress. Badal further said that besides acting as a catalyst for redressing the grievances of people, the Sangat Darshan programs were also helpful for the state government to adjudge the working of officers of the various departments.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister held Sangat Darshan in village Mirkheri, Harchandpur, Daula, Baraajwal, Dhandra and Bangawali to give a fillip to the development of these villages. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Cabinet Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa, MLA Mr. Iqbal Singh Jhunda, former Ministers . Gobind Singh Longowal and Mr. Rajinder Singh Kanjla, his Special Principal Secretary Dr. S Karunaraju and Deputy Commissioner Mr. Arshdeep Singh Thind.
