The BJP Tuesday criticised the Samajwadi Party (SP) government in Uttar Pradesh for failing to take action against its party workers for attacking policemen in the state.Citing four cases of violence by SP workers in the past two months, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said he wanted to know if Chief Minister Akhliesh Yadav intended to take action against his party workers for beating up policemen and threatening officials.

He said a mob of SP workers beat up policemen Sep 8 and a policeman was bashed up inside the a police station Oct 26. He also cited that a police official was transferred for booking irate SP workers Oct 25 and action was taken against two police constables for issuing a challan to a SP leader."Akhilesh Yadav owes an explanation to the people of the state and should also act against his partymen involved in attacks on police," the BJP spokesman said Tuesday.Deputy Inspector General R.K. Chaturvedi, however, said the policemen were removed from their posts in the two cases to ensure a fair probe.
