Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik Friday said destruction and mayhem caused by the recent floods is unimaginable and Kashmiris through their unity have shown glaring examples of a living nation. While interacting with victims of recent floods at Samandar Bagh Srinagar he said, “The magnitude of human and economic loss is such high that Kashmiris need help and assistance of the whole world to rise again. India being a signatory to the Geneva Convention needs to understand the grim situation of Kashmir and the huge loss that Kashmiris have suffered and India should allow international help to come to the Kashmiris.”

He said that economic hub of J&K was left at the mercy of natural disaster and nothing was done to save it. “It is a criminal act that rulers have committed and they are responsible for the magnitude of economic loss of Kashmiris,” Malik said.In a statement a spokesman of the Front said, the JKLF chairman who right from September 6 when flood water started submerging the economic hub of Jammu Kashmir, distributed rice, blankets, biscuits and pulses among the flood hit people.“Nation of Kashmir deserves appreciation that despite being deprived of all the basic essentials, they according to self help approach saved thousands of lives and provided relief to the victims of flood. From Kargil to Poonch and Rajouri, from Tangdar to Kishtwar and Shupian to Baramullah, no Kashmiri remained aloof from this and participated in the relief efforts,” Malik said.Thanking people who rescued or provided relief to flood victims, he said, “Our job is not done yet. We have a lot more to do further so our passion and morale should remain as high as it was on the first day.”Malik said “We all will have to keep our passion and morale high and work for the devastated people as winter is approaching and the hardships of homeless people may also rise.”
