Stating that the youth of the state have onerous responsibility to supplement the government efforts initiated towards bringing peace and normalcy in the state, Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Ghulam Hassan Mir has stressed to come forward in a big way to shoulder their responsibility.The Minister said this after witnessing final match of 7th Bashir Memorial Cricket Tournament held at sports field Treran Tangmarg today.The T-Twenty Cricket tournament was started on April 15 2014 in which 32 teams of Tangmarg Tehsil participated. The final match of the tournament was played between Pariswani A and Pariswani B. Team A defeated team B in a super over.Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that with the Government endeavours sports culture in the state is gaining momentum day by day which plays a vital role in changing mindset of the youth.The Minister highlighted the importance for popularising sports culture among youth of the state, saying that talent needs to be exploited, channelized in right prospective and used for productive activities of the nation.
Mir called for promotion of sports in all educational institutions of the state in a big way to prepare youth for competing sports at state and national levels.“While government is enduring to provide basic infrastructure to the students in educational institutions in the state, the parents, too, should work for giving exposure to their wards in Extra Curricular activities as these are necessary for developing sound physique and sound mind”, Mir maintained.
The Minister announced that a cricket field with all modern facilities will be developed at Treran so that youth would not have to travel long distances for playing.Later, the Minister addressed a public meeting at Chichloora in the afternoon. He reiterated the government resolve to provide all basic facilities to the people especially upgrade the drinking water facilities and road network in the area.He said that focussed attention is being paid towards inclusive development of the state with thrust on infrastructural and upgradation of various facilities to enhance the living standard of people especially far off and remote areas of the state.
