Stating that Srinagar city was given neglectful treatment by the ruling dispensation mainly during the last over five and a half years, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senior leader and party candidate for Amirakadl constituency Syed Altaf Bukhari has said the systematic neglect and mis-governance have taken toll of the citizens of this historic city. The statement issued to KNS informed that addressing a workers meeting at Barzulla here, Bukhari said that people of Srinagar especially the inhabitants of Amirakadl constituency are facing huge problems both social and civic. “While unemployment is a big problem, dilapidated roads and lanes, bad sanitation and drainage is troubling citizens regularly,” he observed.
Bukhari remarked that Srinagar city considered to be National Conference strong hold hardly gives a feel of any modern city and there is an urban chaos everywhere because of the NC’s misrule and administrative inertia.“Despite all eight MLAs from Srinagar city belonging to the ruling National Conference, the people of this city have been neglected to the hilt. People crave for round the clock drinking water supply, electricity, smooth road communication, quality healthcare, good education and recreation for children,” he added. The PDP senior leader observed that people of Srinagar bore the maximum brunt of summer agitation of 2010 wherein most of the young men either fell to the bullets of Omar Abdullah’s government or FIRs were lodged against them. “People are yet to reconcile with the level of atrocities perpetrated on them by the ruling National Conference,” Bukhari added.
Urging the youth to spearhead the movement for change, the PDP leader said the youth has become the biggest victim of tyrannical policies of NC led Government and besides getting victimized collectively by the repressive policies of the present dispensation, the youth are being subjected to economic subjugation by depriving them the opportunities of employment and other income-generating avenues.Bukhari said the present dispensation has been involved in corrupting institutions of probity, fairness and accountability besides degrading the integrity of recruitment agencies in the state. “This degradation of institutions has pushed the youth into a perpetual state of despair and uncertainty. And through these devious means the National Conference wants to push Kashmiris into perpetual political enslavement and to satiate its lust for power,” he observed.
He said NC having realized that it has lost the public support and its survival is solely dependent on political machinations, Bukhari appealed people to remain vigilant against the political maneuverings ahead of assembly elections. The PDP candidate for Amirakadl constituency maintained that people are fed up with the insensitivity of NC led regime and would respond appropriately to this feeling of utter neglect in the upcoming polls by casting their ballot in favour of PDP. “One feels pity for this regime that has failed to settle cases of relief in favour of families who lost their near and dear ones in summer unrest of 2010. What adds to the sufferings and misery of these families is that they are being pushed from pillar to post for their entitlements under law,” Bukhari remarked.Abdul Hamid Kosheen coordination secretary, Haji Parvez Bhat district coordinator Srinagar, Ms Anjum Fazili, Ms Jeela Rafiqee, Shuja Sarwar, Mudasir Amin, Abdul Qayoom, Mohammad and other various senior party workers were present on the occasion.
