Police on Thursday claimed to have solved within 24-hours a case involving murder of a newly married woman by arresting her husband in Rajouri town of Jammu region.The bride was killed by her husband for allegedly not allowing physical relations and threatening him to break the marriage.According to police, the accused Wazarat Iqbal (45), confessed to have killed his wife—Kouser Begum (22) by slitting her throat near the maize field at village Nainsukh Aiti in Rajouri district on July 7.The man has four children from his first wife who died few years back. It was his second marriage with the girl hailing from Kallar village.“Just within 13 days, the girl who was about half of the age of Wazarat, was done to death, for the reason not accepting Wazarat as her husband,” police said.

The accused during interrogation, police said, revealed that Kouser was not happy with the marriage and his children. She used to threaten him to break the marriage and go back to her parents’ home at Kallar. “Even she did not allow him to develop physical relations like husband-wife,” police said.As Wazarat was frustrated with the behaviour of her wife, police said, he decided to get rid of her and planned the murder.He said for patch- up Kouser’s brother and cousin had also come to his house on July 6 evening. Frustrated with the behaviour of her wife again at that night, he decided to kill her, police said.

“During wee hours he took knife from the kitchen and took her wife to nearby field on the pretext of taking bath to nearby Bowli and slit her throat there and returned to her room and slept.” His mother noticed Kouser lying murdered and raised alarm, police said. He also along with her brothers went to the spot. Later, police was informed.SSP Rajouri Mubassar Latiffi said that SHO Rajouri, Yash Paul Jamwal managed to solve the blind murder case within 24 hours with most professional manner and arrested the accused.“The weapon of offence was also recovered at the instance of accused. He had buried it in the field near the spot.” The police said that brothers had no role in the case and they had gone there after learning that there were strained relations between husband- wife and they tried to patch up but failed to do so.
