In a bid to further intensify its ongoing efforts for the elimination of drug menace from the state, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today gave nod to set up a state-of-the-art Drug de-addiction and Rehabilitation Center at Sector 66, SAS Nagar, (Mohali) over an area of 2.77 acre.Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that on the directions of Mr. Badal, the Chief Administrator GMADA would transfer 2.77 acre of land in Sector-66 free of cost to the Health & Family Welfare, Department for this purpose. It may be recalled here that the state government had planned to construct 22 Rehabilitation Centres, one in each district across the state, to enable the drug addicts to lead a normal life with a sense of dignity and self respect. The drug addicts after treated in drug de-addiction centers would be rehabilitated by imparting skill development training in different vocations, in these upcoming centers, so as to make them gainfully employed.
