In a bid to check the menace of milk adulteration in the state, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said that the state government would soon amend the relevant sections of IPC to provide stringent punishment for the adulterators involved in the sale of synthetic milk and its products across the state.Showing deep concern over the growing tendency of sale of adulterated synthetic milk and its products in the state, the Chief Minister reiterated the state government’s firm commitment to check this heinous crime by making provisions for stringent punishment to the adulterators, who were openly playing havoc with the innocent lives of millions consumers. Interacting with the delegation of Halwai Association, which called on the Chief Minister at CMO this morning, Mr. Badal, however assured the delegation that before making any amendment in this regard on the directions of Apex Court,  the view point of the association would be given due consideration.  Terming adulteration as in human act, the Chief Minister impressed upon the association to help the state in checking the sale of spurious milk and its products because the sale of such products was not only a serious threat to the humanity but was also unpardonable offence. 

He said that the perpetrators of this grave crime should be punished severely and hoped that the relevant amendments in the law would act as a deterrent to check this barbaric crime in future. Meanwhile, referring to the initiatives taken by the state government to check drug menace in the state, the Chief Minister solicited the support of private sector in this regard.  He asked the Chancellor of Lovely University Mr. Ashok Mittal to set up 10 bedded drug de-addiction center in the vicinity of Jalandhar.  Responding to it Mr. Mittal assured the Chief Minister that he would soon set up such center at Jalandhar. Prominent amongst those present in the meeting included Principal Secretary to Chie Minister Mr. SK Sandhu, Principal Secretary Home Mr. Jagpal Singh and Special Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Gaggandip Singh Brar.
