Chief Secretary B.K Agarwal said that the state government is making effort to make promote adventure activities in the state in a planned manner with special emphasis on reducing risk factors.He was presiding over a meeting of the senior officers of tourism, forest, police, disaster management authority and sports here to discuss regulation of trekking, adventure sports and pilgrimage activities in the state.The Chief Secretary said efforts are on to make adventure activities like river rafting, trekking and paragliding etc. safer so as to minimize the risk ti human life. He stressed the need to develop mobile app to monitor the hours of the flights of the paragliders which would help in reducing the risk of any mishap. He also emphasized on use of GPS trekking bands to ensure safety of the trekkers on tough trekking routes as it would help in starting rescue work in case of any emergency.

Additional Chief Secretary (Tourism) Ram Subhag Singh said that the state government is working on to develop various facilities to attract the tourists of all age groups especially for the adventure tourism which has vast possibilities in the state.Director, Atal Bihari Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports Col. Neeraj Rana informed that the Institute is organising 15-days training programme on river rafting for which only the successful trainees are being given license.A detail discussion was also held to reduce the risk on adventure tourism activities like paragliding, river rafting and pilgrimage.Principal Secretary Onkar Chand, Special Secretary, SDMA D.C. Rana, Inspector General of Police (AP&T) Himanshu Mishra, Chief Conservator of Forest Sanjay Sood, Principal Chief Conservator Savita, Deputy Commissioner, Shimla Amit Kashyap and other senior officers of various departments attended the meeting.
