Under the drive launched by the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh, the police of District Sri Muktsar Sahib has registered a total of 162 cases in the first half of the current year by arresting 233 accused of drug smuggling.Divulging the detail Mr. Manjit Singh Dhesi, SSP, Sri Muktsar Sahib said that the police is being kept vigilant against drugs. He said that 33.945 kg opium, 281.800 kg poppy husk, 79785 tablets and capsules, 1.082 kg heroin, 81 syrups and 230 kg of green plants were recovered from January 1, 2019 to July 7, 2019. In this period, the drug money of Rs. 25,16,340 has also been recovered.Mr. Dhesi said that police is taking strict actions to curb drug menace in district as well as our teams are encouraging youth to stay away from drugs. Therefore, awareness seminars are being organized under the area of all the 10 police stations of the district. Due to seminars and camps, drug addicts are coming forward to get rid of drugs as well as people are providing information about drug smugglers, he added.

SSP issues whatsapp number

SSP Mr. Manjit Singh Dhesi has issued his whatsapp number 80542-00166 for the Public. On this number, any person of the District Sri Muktsar Sahib, can share information with SSP against drugs. Identity of information provider is kept confidential by police.

Helpline number 98152-06006 against sale of medical drugs

On the other side, a helpline number 98152 06006 has been issued by Punjab Government against the sale of medical drugs. The information provider's identity is kept confidential. People can share medical drug related information on email at [email protected].
