A Moga resident Jasveer Kaur has brought laurels to the district after she bagged the prestigious Dr Ambedkar National Merit Award for her outstanding performance in 2017 Class XII in Punjab School Education Board (PSEB). Jasveer Kaur, a passed-out student of Dashmesh Public Senior Secondary School, Kot Isse Khan here had secured 94 per cent marks in her class XII.Deputy Commissioner Moga Sandeep Hans on Wednesday conferred Jasveer Kaur with Rs 50,000 and a certificate under the scheme in the presence of District Education Officer (DEO secondary) Pardeep Sharma. On the occasion, Jasveer’s father Hardeep Singh and Chairman of Dashmesh Public School Gurmeet Singh were also present.Deputy Commissioner while conveying best wishes for the future to Jasveer Kaur also asked the students to take an example from her and asked them to work hard to excel in their studies.Meanwhile, Dr Ambedkar National Merit Award is sponsored by the Dr Ambedkar Foundation, an autonomous organisation under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The award is given to recognize meritorious SC/ST students who have excelled in Class X/XII examination conducted by any State/Central/Council board in the country.
