In order to make cultural policy for promotion of rich cultural diversity of the state a meeting of stakeholders associated with art sector of different regions of the state was held here today.Presiding over the meeting, Chief Secretary B.K. Agarwal said that Himachal Pradesh is known for its rich folk culture and folk art and it is necessary that Himachali artistes get ample opportunity to perform at every available platform in the state.He asked all the stakeholders that they should make concrete suggestions for making a cultural policy in the state so that the promotion of culture can be given a new direction.He said that selection process of artistes will be made transparent for performance and encouraging Himachali artistes in all public events.Secretary Language and Culture Department Dr. Purnima Chauhan said the work of registration of artistes is being done in the state. He urged all the artistes to register themselves in respective districts in the office of District Language Officer in the field of their art and expertise. Registration can be done for Shimla district in the office of District Language Officer as well as Gaiety Theatre.Deputy Commissioner Shimla Rajeshwar Goel, Director Information & Public Relations Harbans Singh Brascon was also present in the meeting.
