Frequent hours long traffic jams on Srinagar-Gulmarg road at Magam are increasing the hardships for people especially students, patients and commuters traveling on this road.Students alleged that traffic jams on Srinagar-Gulmarg road in the morning and evening has become a routine in the area and authorities have failed to regulate the traffic flow.“Roadside vendors have captured  the road and the footpaths made for movement of pedestrians have been captured by shop keepers.” a local told PTK.“Wrong parking, stopping vehicles at will on middle of the road is also a main cause for the traffic mess. We have never seen traffic police in the town. Due to traffic jams in morning, we reach hours late to our schools.” said a student while talking to PTK.“Patients are also suffering this due to this traffic mess. We see hundreds of ambulances stuck in the traffic jam every day.” he added.A girl student said that “After coming back from collage, I spend 1-2 hours daily in the traffic. We urge authorities to take note of it and make deployment of traffic police in the town.”Locals further said that the sub-district authorities have failed to take action against the street vendors who have captured the roads and are the main cause behind the traffic mess.
