The Punjab government has decided to provide spectacles and hearing aids to the government schools students with poor eye sight and with hearing impairment. Disclosing this here today, the Punjab Education Minister Mr. Sikander Singh Maluka said that it was noticed that some students with poor eye sight and students with hearing impairment generally becomes back benchers and resultantly lose their interest in studies. He said that school authorities have been directed to identify such students and get them medically examined in nearby Civil Hospitals or Dispensaries. He said that they have been asked to send the District wise list of such students to IED officials. He said that the state education department has prepared a special training module for the teachers to take proper care of such students and this module has already been made available at the download section of SSA website. 

He said that the school authorities have been asked to ensure that such students should be seated in the front rows and the class teachers gave them special attention to develop their interest in studies. He said that after gathering the information regarding such students, the state education department would provide them spectacles and other required equipments including hearing aids.
