DDC Ganderbal flags-off students exposure tour

The District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Dr. Piyush Singla, today flagged-off a group of 40 students of the district for an exposure-cum-sports tour.A group of students under-14 boys will take part in Divisional level football competition being played in Sopore district. Another Under-17 boys’ group will take part in Divisional level cricket competition in District Anantnag, similarly, a group of 15 students of all age group will take part in Martial Arts, State Level Competition which will be played in Budgam.While interacting with the participating students, the DDC asked them to take up sports to lead a healthy and disciplined life. He said that the objective of such competitions is to involve youth in sports activities to channelize their energy in the right direction and to develop leadership qualities, team spirit and discipline among them.Stressing on the need to extend support and encouragement to the budding sports talent in the district, DDC said that such competitions will help the young players achieve their ambitions and bring laurels to the state and the country.Lauding the efforts of the District Youth Services and Sports Ganderbal for organizing such competitions, the DDC suggested the officials to conduct other types of sports event that will encourage youth to take up sports and lay down a platform for local players to display their talent at the higher level.
