Setting up an example for various others, Head Teacher of Government Primary School, Bihla Harpreet Singh Diwana developed a remote area school into a model school, that too with the funds donated by NRI’s, philanthropists and state government. Equipped with modern teaching techniques, the walls of the schools even the classrooms have been beautifully decorated with paintings for interactive learning. Amongst the hi-tech technology, the school has also been equipped with the working models of Bhakhra Dam, Wind Mill and Traffic lights.It is pertinent to mention that all classrooms of this school are smart classrooms fitted with 32 inch LED TV’s, has colourful furniture, all classrooms have a Dias for students, all walls have interactive and educative paintings, child friendly toilets, an RO system, interlock tiles, a basketball and badminton courts, swings, teaching aids in classrooms, besides others.
Head Teacher Mr. Harpreet Singh Deewana said that apart from the help of Punjab Government, they received donations from NRIs and other social workers of the region. He added that they have spent around 16 lakh on the transformation of the school out of which he has also pooled Rs.4.5 lakh from his own pocket. He said that besides maintaining the beauty of the school building, all the staff members of the school put special focus upon students for their overall development including basic knowledge of English language.Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Barnala Mr. Dharam Pal Gupta along with SSP Mr. Harjit Singh visited the school.DC lauded the efforts of Head Teacher and said that district administration has been committed to uplift the infrastructure of all government schools in Barnala and for this purpose several new initiatives have also been started. He added that he would direct teachers of other government schools to visit Bihla School as the work done by the school staff will also motivate them for hard work.
