DC Budgam finalizes Hajj-2018 arrangements

Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar, today chaired a meeting to finalize the arrangements for the smooth departure of pilgrims for annual Haj-2018, commencing from July 14.Approximately 9600 pilgrims are scheduled to leave from the Srinagar Airport this year. A total of 820 pilgrims will be airlifted in four special Haj flights on daily basis.The meeting was held at Srinagar International Airport which was attended by the Director Airport Authority of India, Akash Deep Mathur, SSP Budgam Tejindar Singh, ADC Budgam Mohammad Farooq Dar and others senior officers from various line departments and security agencies.While reviewing the arrangements being put in place for the smooth departure of pilgrims, DC Budgam directed concerned to sensitize their staff to be deployed on Hajj duty to work in coordination and maintain cordial attitude towards the pilgrims for facilitating their hassle-free departure.The DC directed the health department to ensure vaccination of left-out pilgrims and deploy two ambulances and additional doctors and paramedical staff at the airport for the medical assistance to the pilgrims.As a precautionary measure, F&ES was directed to deploy one fire tender at the airport, while as PHE was directed to ensure uninterrupted water supply to the airport during the departure schedule, besides PHE was asked to set up additional drinking water facility points.

Stressing on the cleanliness and hygiene, DC directed concerned to ensure deployment of additional Safai Karamcharis with proper machinery and equipment to ensure regular lifting of garbage.She directed the concerned to make sufficient parking arrangements and ensure hassle-free vehicular movements during the departure days.In the meeting, BSNL authorities were directed to ensure uninterrupted internet connectivity for transfer of data among various agencies.The DC directed that all the flight departure schedule information be disseminated through the information department. She directed all the concerned line departments to submit their details along with photographs at earliest for acquiring passes from the Airport Authority.Further, DC inspected the seating arrangements for the Haj pilgrims and directed concerned to provide all the necessary facilities including a separate prayer space for pilgrims at the Airport.Earlier, DC also chaired a meeting of officers to take stock of the infrastructure required to facilitate night landing facility at   Srinagar International Airport.The DC directed that all X-ray machines must be made operational so that the movement of passengers at the drop gate will be expedited and people travelling do not face any inconvenience.
