Three persons including a student of class 11th were injured allegedly in government forces action in Sopore and Handwara areas of north Kashmir on Monday. Elsewhere four policemen including two officers were injured due to stone-pelting at Ganapora area of Kralgund in Handwara.Official sources told GNS that a youth identified as Ubaid Manzoor son of Manzoor Ahmed Lone of Nadihal Sopore suffered a bullet wound in his right thigh after BSF troopers of 149 bn opened fire during clashes at Nadihal on Baramulla-Handwara highway today morning.Eyewitnesses said that a group of students was protesting against the recent civilian killing in government forces firing in parts of Valley.Medical Superintendent, Baramulla hospital, Dr Syed Masood also confirmed to GNS that the youth suffered firearm injury in the thigh.A police officer when contacted confirmed the incident and said that the group of students were protesting and has blocked the road in the area.In the meantime, the force's vehicle passed through the area and the protesting students hurled stones on it, he said, adding that the troopers fired some shots resulting in injuries to the student.
The injured student was immediately shifted to Baramulla district hospital where from he was referred to Srinagar for specialized treatment, he said."A case under FIR number 103/2018 under section 307, 336, 144 RPC has been registered with regard to the incident and further investigations initiated," the officer said.Meanwhile, a group of people late today afternoon pelted stones on police and CRPF at Ganapora area of Kralgund in Handwara area of northern Kupwara district."Four policemen including DSP Operations, Kralgund, Sahil Sharma and SHO concerned suffered injuries after being hit by stones," an official said,The joint team of forces used tear smoke shells and pellets to disperse the group of people resulting in injuries to two persons namely Danish Ahmad and Umer Khazir.While Danish is said to have received injuries after being hit by a shell and Umer received pellet wounds in his body parts.Both the injured were shifted to Sub-District Hospital Langate where from the duo was referred to Srinagar hospital for specialized treatment.
