The Punjab Amateur Rowing Association today launched a 10 day campaign to Save Sukhna campaign to mark the World Environment Day-2018.Giving details of the Save Sukhna Campaign, the President of the Association, Adaish Pratap Singh Kairon said that it has often been observed that the waters of Sukhna gets polluted with the throwing of non degradable pollutants like metals, plastics and other material causing great harm to the lake as well as the environs.Mr. Kairon further emphasized that Conservation and Protection of the Environment have always been a matter of concern. He said that during these 15 days, the residents living around the villages of Chandigarh and also the tourists visiting Lake would be motivated to keep the Lake and its surroundings clean and it would also be ensured that no plastic material is thrown in the lake water. Besides this, he said that to maintain the ecological balance and to ensure environmental stability, it is also essential to plant and protect more and more trees.Mr. Kairon appealed the people of Punjab and Chandigarh to take up these challenges and work together to make it a ‘people’s movement’ to create green, clean, and healthy surroundings by renewing our resolve to preserve our natural resources.Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Capt Karnail Singh, Director Sports, U.T., Dr. Mohinder Singh, Joint Director, Sports, S Naib Singh, G.M. Sukhna Lake, Jaspreet Singh Sidhu, General secretary of the Punjab Amateur Rowing Association, Gurpartap Singh Kairon, M S Sarang , Mohinder Bajaj , Sanjiv Nagpal , Nirmaljeet Singh,  Tejbal Singh , Tejpartap Singh  and Ronnie Singh  all members of the Association. As many as 60 Rowers both boys and girls and their coach SI Tejinder Singh also attended the programme.
