Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh exhorted the youth to master excellence in their chosen spheres as their success would eventually define the future of our country.Singalling out the younger children as the beacons of change, Captain Amarinder Singh said in a diverse country as ours it was imperative for students to have wide ranging spectrum of academic pursuits to enable them to have a holistic worldview.The Chief Minister expressed these views while speaking at the 39th Founder’s Day of Yadavindra Public School here today.The Chief Minister was welcomed at the School which was established under his patronage in 1979 by cheering students. He was accompanied by his younger brother Malwinder Singh, who is also the chairman of the school. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister recalled his family's association with the school and said his father Maharaja Yadavindra Singh tirelessly pursued his dream of bringing World level education facilities for our region. Maharaja Yadavindra Singh was the one who ensured reestablishment of the School after the partition in Patiala and then subsequently YPS Mohali was established, he added.Lauding the school for producing illustrious talent who has been serving the state and country, Captain Amarinder Singh said he was very ecstatic to see the path of progression YPS has attained.Two of my outstanding officers my Principal Secretary Tejveer Singh, who was present at the function, and my Finance Secretary Anirudh Tewari have had their education here only, he added leading to a thunderous applause from the audience.

The Chief Minister, who is also the Patron of the School was presented a memento by School Director. Captain Amarinder Singh also handed over the medals and trophies to students excelling in academics and sports categories before releasing the YPS Year Book. Director YPS Major General (Retd.) TPS Waraich expressed his gratitude towards Captain Amarinder Singh for establishing this world class educational facility with an aim to provide quality education to youngsters. He credited the Chief Minister for his farsightedness, able direction and continued support and said Captain Amarinder Singh's benevolent nature had made him a true People's Maharaja.Students of the school presented a vibrant entertainment programme of music and dance titled ‘Melody of Dance & Music’ was presented by the students, which included an enactment of the Battle of Saragarhi, a dance medley comprising of Kathak and Bhangra, and a mime show.On the occasion, the Chief Minister announced a holiday tomorrow for students.Prominent among others who attended the function included Principal Secretary to CM Tejveer Singh, MLA SAS Nagar Babir Singh Sidhu, MLA Ferozepur Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, Political Secretary to CM Captain Sandeep Sandhu, OSD to CM Major Amardeep Singh and Karanpal Singh Sekhon besides ADGP Intelligence Dinkar Gupta, DC Mohali Gurpreet Kaur Sapra and SSP Mohali Kuldeep S Chahal.
