The Power Development Department (PDD) has taken various steps to improve power network in all the areas of district Shopian including Kandi areas and an amount of Rs 1 crore has been released under T&D for improvement of HT/LT network in the district on which the works are under execution.This was stated by Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh while replying to a question of Zaffar Iqbal Manhas in the Upper House today.The Deputy Chief Minister informed that Rs 1 crore is being earmarked every year for each district for the improvement of power network in Capex Budget under T&D sector for last five years. He informed that during 2016-17, the Government has released Rs 1 crore for each Constituency under PMDP for replacement of barbed wire, stranded conductors, worn-out poles in the state. The Deputy Chief Minister further informed that a receiving station of 1X6.3 MVA capacity at Kellar (Mastpora) is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 3.04 crore on which an amount of Rs 1.09 crore has been expended by the end December 2017. The Receiving Station is expected to be completed by the end of March this year, he added.A scheme for construction of Receiving Station at Kanipora has been cleared by the TEC for an amount of Rs 2.87 crore and the work on the project shall be taken up for execution subject to availability of funds, the Deputy Chief Minister further informed the House.
