In order to review the implementation of Public Service Guarantee Act in the district, a meeting of officers of different departments designated as Public Information Officers (PIOs)/Assistant Public Information Officers (APIOs) was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara here today.The meeting was aimed at monitoring and accessing the effective progress and implementation of the PSG Act in the district.It was given out in the meeting that 13 departments are providing 61 civil services to the public across district Kupwara in accordance with the guidelines of the Act and the report is already being furnished on monthly basis.It was also informed that 4994 applications were received by the different departments, in which 4985 issues were disposed off till May, 2017.

The Deputy Commissioner while addressing the meeting stressed upon the concerned officers (service providing departments) to dispose off the applications and complaints of the public in a time bound and effective manner. He directed the concerned officers to create awareness among the general public about the aims and objectives of the PSG Act via hoardings, distribution of printing material and holding of awareness camps at centrally located places in the district.The DC sensitized the officers designated as PIOs and AIPOs about the role, duties and responsibilities towards the society for providing the hassle free services to the general public at their door steps as guaranteed under the PSG Act.Meanwhile, the district administration is going to constitute a monitoring committee to oversee the functioning of the departments and implementation process under the PSG Act and a comprehensive public contact programme has been formulated.
