District Development Commissioner, Niraj Kumar today convened a meeting to review the Village Integrated   Water Security Plan for Sudhmahadev and Mansar under Jal Kranti Abhiyan scheme.While reviewing the water security plan for Sudhmahadev and Mansar on pilot basis, the DDC said that stress should be laid on minimizing wastage of water and to ensure sufficient supply of drinking water to the rural population.He further asked the concerned officers to conduct survey to identify different water sources in these villages, create awareness and involve local people in the preparation of the plan and include water budgeting for optimum utilization of water.In order to reduce wastage and conserve water, the DDC stressed on the need for installation of water meters along with adoption of rain water harvesting and roof water collection on a wide scale.Meanwhile, the Chief Horticulture Officer was asked to explore the scope of horticulture sector in these two villages so that the farmers of these areas could be made self reliant.Chief Planning Officer, Ashok Khajuria, Project Officer IWMP Attar Chand, Chief Horticulture Officer Ravinder Koul, Chief Agriculture Officer Ajay Kumar Koul, XEN Irrigation, PHE, AEEs PHE, Irrigation, BDO Udhampur and BDO Chenani attended the meeting.
