Pulse Polio Immunization campaign held across Kashmir

In connection with Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) programme, 3-day campaign started across the Kashmir under which the children upto the age of 5 years are being administered anti-polio vaccine.The Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, Sunday launched the Intensified Pulse-Polio Immunization programme at the JLMN Hospital Rainawari by administering anti-polio drops to children below the age of 5 years.The Director said that as many as 630 Pulse Polio booths have been set up in different areas across Srinagar, while as around 2500 workers and 126 supervisors have been deployed on duty to achieve 100 percent target. He urged the concerned for making coordinated efforts to ensure all children upto the age of five years are covered under the programme.AT SHOPIAN, the Pulse Polio Immunization campaign was launched by the Deputy Commissioner, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri at District Hospital. Speaking on the occasion, the DC said healthy society guarantees a developed nation for which children are future builders. He informed that about 43371 children are being administered anti-Polio drops in the district for which 860 personal of health department and Supervisors have been deployed at 215 Pulse Polio centres. 

In order to ensure achievement of cent percent target under the programme, the DDC directed the concerned CMO to conduct door-to-door campaign to administer the anti polio vaccine to every children upto the age of 5 years.At Pulwama, the anti-polio campaign was launched by the Deputy Commissioner, Muneer-ul-Islam at old Hospital Pulwama.After launching the drive, the Deputy Commissioner said that 87108 children under the age group of 0-5 years are being administered Pulse Polio drop today in district for which 1828 personal of health department and Supervisors have been deployed at 464 centres.At Budgam, District Development Commissioner, Mir Altaf Ahamd kicked off the Pulse Polio Immunization drive at Aga Syed Yousf Memorial District Hospital. He said as many as 101916 lakh children are targeted in the district for which 2252 workers and volunteers have been deployed at 612 booths including 9 transit teams.On the occasion, the DDC directed CMO/BMO’s to constitute mobile teams for conducting door to door surveys to administer the polio vaccine.At Ganderbal, the first phase of the 3-day pulse polio immunization drive commenced today here in the District Hospital Ganderbal, where District Development Commissioner, Tariq Hussain Ganai inaugurated the programme by administering Oral Polio vaccine to a baby.It was given out that, the in Ganderbal district 45504 children are being administered anti polio vaccine for which 227 booths were set up and 908 employees were deputed for conducting the programme. In addition to these employees 30 volunteers and 49 supervisors were also deputed.

At Anantnag,Under the intensive Plus Polio Programme Phase-I, the Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, kick- started the programme by administering Plus Polio drops to new born infants at Maternity & Child Care Hospital, Anantnag.The CMO, Anantnag, Dy. CMO, Medical Superintendent, M&CCH, Health officer & other concerned were present on the occasion.On the occasion, It was said that about 135734 children in the age group of 0-5 years are being covered under Intensive Plus Polio (IPP) Programme in district for which 624 vaccine booths have been set up. Besides, 2621 total workers have been deployed on duty which include, 125 supervisors 977 health workers, 771 ASHA workers, 455 Anganwari workers and 12 from Education Department, besides 281 volunteers.The Deputy Commissioner on the occasion stressed for cent per coverage under the programme in the district. At Kulgam, the Deputy Commissioner, Showkat Aijaz Bhat kick- started the programme by administering Plus Polio drops to new born infants at district hospital, Kulgam.

The CMO, Kulgam, Dy. CMO, Medical Superintendent District Hospital and other Para medical staff were present on the occasion and it was informed that 88765 children in the age group of 0-5 years are being covered under IPP Programme in district for which 508 vaccine booths have been set up and 2032 health workers, 646 ASHA workers, 367 Aganwari workers and 101 Supervisors have been deployed on duty.At Bandipora, The first phase of the 3-day pulse polio immunisation drive was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner, Sajad Hussain at District Hospital Bandipora by administering Oral Polio vaccine to a baby.At Baramulla, District Development Commissioner, Dr.Nassir Ahmad Naqash today inaugurated the IPPI drive in the district  by administering Oral Polio vaccine to a baby at District Hospital Baramulla.On the occasion, it was informed that as many as 154879 children are being covered under the Ist phase of immunisation programme for which 776 vaccination booths have been established, while as 786 teams consisting of 3259 members, including Health workers, ASHA Workers, Anganwari workers and Teachers have been deployed. Moreover various Transit Camps and several Mobile camps have also been established across the district. The DDC, meanwhile, called for extensive andcoordinated efforts from the deployed machinery, so that every child below the age of five years in the district is covered under the programme.At Kupwara,: the District Development Commissioner Kupwara G.M.Dar kick started the IPPI at Sub district Hospital by administering the Anti-polio drops to a newly born babies.  It was told on the occasion, that as many as 1.36 lakh children up to 5 years age  are being covered under the programme for which 720 polio booths have been established in the district, while as 3083 employees and 146 supervisors were engaged in the process, besides 38 mobile teams were deployed to achieve the cent percent target under IPPI in the district..

 Meanwhile at Tanghdar Hospital, the Sub Divisional Magistrate Karnah, Shabir Ahmad  Indrabi administered the anti-polio vaccine to some new born babies and took stock of the status of present campaign. He said that 8500 children are targets under first round of IPPI programme in the sub division for this purpose 64  booths have been set up and 150 employees of different departments have been engaged to cover the 100% targets. He also said that the Upper Jabdi area is being covered within a week under the progamme.At Kargil, the IPPI programme was launched by Executive Councillor Health, LAHDC, Kargil Mohammad Hussain at District Hospital Kargil. Under the programme 17766 children upto the age of 5 years are being covered for which 382 booth were set up in the district. While as 1528 employees have been deployed for the implementation of the programme.At Leh, the intensified Pulse Polio immunization Programme was launched by Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC, Leh Dr. Sonam Dawa at District Immunization Centre, Leh by administering polio drops to a small baby. He also flagged of the team of supervisors to various locations for supervision of the pulse polio programme.

Speaking on the occasion, CEC appreciated the doctors and staff of Health department for discharging their duties efficiently and hoped that they will continue to work with same zeal and enthusiasm for providing health service to the people of Ladakh. He said that with the truthful efforts of our doctors and workers of health department, it is matter of pride that Leh declared polio and some other diseases free district.The district immunization Officer Dr. Manzoor-ul Haq speaking on the occasion that total a target of 1901 children under the age group of 0-5 years will be covered under the first round of Pulse Policy Initialization programme for which 1490 paramedic, ICDS workers, ASHAs and 75 supervisors are deployed at 375 pulse polio booth in Leh district. He urged upon the Supervisors for proper supervision to make the programme successful as per plan framed.Meanwhile, the intensified Pulse Polio immunization Programme was also launched at Nyoma, Nubra and Khalsi Sub-Divisions.
