District administration Kathua Saturday organized a Motorcycle Rally and Walkathon on the culmination of Swachhta Pakhwada campaign.MLA Kathua, Rajeev Jasrotia and DC Kathua Ramesh Kumar flagged off the Motor cycle Rally and Walkathon from DC Office complex which witnessed huge participation of students and locals. The participants were chanting slogans and holding placards to spread the message of cleanliness.Speaking on the occasion, the MLA hailed huge participation in the event adding that such programmes will help to involve all stakeholders in the crucial campaign. He said children are the future of country and they are main stakeholders in the campaign for clean and healthy India. He appealed the people to initiate cleanliness drives at local level to make it a habit.
The DC Kathua Ramesh Kumar in his address said that clean surroundings guarantee a life free from all diseases. He stressed on availing the benefits provided under flagship schemes Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) like assistance for construction of Individual Household Latrines (IHHL) for both rural and urban population. He appealed children to motivate parents and neighbours to have toilet facility under these schemes to discourage open defecation. He also called for holding regular plantation drives and discarding the use of polythene bags.Earlier variety of theme based cultural programs, debate and painting competitions were held wherein students of Government and private educational institutions of Kathua participated in large number. Later the DC gave away prizes to the winners of various competitions.Deputy District Election Officer Kathua, Chand Kishore Sharma informed the gathering that the process of special summary revision has been started and all eligible persons can register for enrolment as voter.ADC Kathua Dr Bharat Bhushan, ACD Kathua Dr Sunil Sharma, DPO Kathua Pardeep Kumar, CEO Kathua, DIO Kathua Angrej Singh, CEO MC Kathua, BDO Kathua O D Attri and other District Officers were also present on the occasion.
