Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment Choudhary Lal Singh today said that the government is committed to establish sports infrastructure at all levels to promote and revive sports culture in the state.Speaking while inspecting site for playground at Kathua today, he said sports channelize the energy of youth in the positive direction and keep them physically and mentally fit.Ch Lal Singh reiterated that the Government is committed to promote sports activities in every nook and corner which is imperative for overall personality development of youth as it helps in inculcating discipline among them. He said that the Government is endeavoring to create adequate sports infrastructure to provide youth an opportunity to excel in their field.He said the menace of drug addiction is a big challenge for the society and youth can be saved by involving them in games and other activities .
He appealed youth to desist from drugs and adopt sports to nurture their talent and personality. He said Jammu & Kashmir have rich history of rural sports and athletes of the state have brought laurels by competing in national and international events.While inspecting the playground site, the minister passed instructions to the officers of Revenue, Rural Development and Forest Department to take all necessary steps for proper survey of the site. He directed them to initiate demarcation, fencing, plantation and construction of pathway connecting the the playground. He said the playground will be developed on modern lines with multiple - facilities.CCF Jammu Roshan Jaggi, ACR Kathua Jitender Mishra, ACD Kathua Dr Sunil Sharma and other officers accompanied the minister during the visit.
