Mega awareness camp held for ST population under SVEEP

One day mega awareness camp was organised here today at Bhalwal under Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) to educate  Scheduled Tribe (ST) population about the significance of   participation in the election process. Hundreds ST community members besides others attended   the camp.The SDM Jammu North, Avny Lavasa exhorted upon ST members to exercise right to franchise for their social, economic and political emancipation. She said that Election Commission of India has taken specially initiative to enhance participation of tribals in the election process so that this under-privileged segment of the society gets equal opportunities of growth and development. She sought active cooperation of the participants in further dissemination of message regarding the importance of taking part in election process.Referring to the process of correction, deletion and addition of names in the electoral lists, the SDM appealed the tribal population to register themselves only at one place.Deputy Chief Electoral Officer, Krishan Lal informed that the special summary revision for Jammu and Ladakh will start on September 30 and the final electoral roll will be completed by January 10, 2017. 

He also apprised that the persons who will attain 18 years of age on 1-1-2017can apply for their registration in the electoral roll. In this regard, awareness camps would be organised at each polling station in Jammu and Ladakh on October 15 and 22, 2016.It was further informed that Form 6 (For registration of new voters), Form 7 (For deletion of entry in the Photo Electoral Roll), Form 8 (For Modification) and Form 8A (For transposition from one place to another) would be available free of cost with all BLOs, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, Electoral Roll Registration Officers and District Election Officers.These forms can also be downloaded from ceojk.nic.inand the website of election Commission of India, eci.nic.in.Among others present on the occasion included Deputy District Election Officer Zafar Ahmad Bandey, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Mamta Rajpoot, BDO Bhalwal Neha Sharma, other concerned officers, ASHA and Angarwadi workers were present in the camp.
