In a bid to reach out to the people, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti Saturday visited a family in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district that has lost their son in the ongoing street protest in August.  Sources told news agency CNS that Mehbooba didn't, however, risk driving to the Kreelu Kund village and flew there in a helicopter instead.“The helicopter landed at a place near 9 Rashtriya Rifles Army camp and she visited the house of Muhammad Ramzan Sheikh. She was accompanied by some party leaders,” said a local.Mashooq Ahmed, the 19 year old son of Muhammad Ramzan was killed in August in government forces action after he was hit by a bullet during a protest march.Locals informed that the Chief Minister expressed sympathies with the bereaved family and assured all possible help. They added that local population didn’t visit the house to see the Chief Minister. However, insiders said that as Mehbooba Mufti entered into the house, women from adjacent houses came up to her and narrated their experiences about the tragedy that had befallen them during the present unrest.A police official termed the reports baseless that stone-pelting incident occurred in the village at the time of Mehbooba’s presence in the village. He said that stone-pelting incidents occurred in other villages and not at Kreelukund. Extra security measures had been put in place in wake of Chief Minister’s visit.74 persons including two cops have been killed in the ongoing pro-freedom protests that erupted after the killing of Hizb poster boy Burhan Wani on 8 July this year.
