Chief Electoral Officer Punjab V.K.Singh has issued directions to the field staff to ensure meticulous revision of electoral rolls as per the ECI guidelines.Stating this here today, he said that the entire election machinery is geared up to take the task of Revising of Electoral Rolls all over the state. He said that September has been officially dedicated to achieve 100% targets for this program.According to Mr. Singh, Electoral Rolls are given to all political parties free of cost and will be made available to BLOs, Tehsil Office & DC office of the respective districts besides this these Rolls are also available on online CEO website.He also said that the voters especially the youth who were going to vote for the first time needed to be encouraged to search their name and apply if they have to register or make corrections.To attract their attention of first time voters away from “Pokemon, bikes and other games”, Mr. Singh said that some catchy radio jingles and Videos have been devised besides launching a massive advertisement campaign to make young people aware of their voting rights and duty to register their names.Making a fervent appeal to the general public and all the political parties, Mr. Singh urged them to assist officials working for this purpose so that all eligible voters can be registered before the ensuing general elections in the state.
