CPI-M leader and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami today advocated for fulfilling the demands of Aganwari workers and helpers and releasing their wages pending for quite some months. The insensitive approach of the state government towards the long pending legitimate grievances of Anganwadi workers and helpers is unfortunate. Their demands should be conceded forthwith," he demanded.Flaying the government for "not heeding to the concerns of workers under Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS)", Tarigami cautioned that such attitude has created uncertainty among these employees. He has moved starred question in Legislative Assembly which was listed in todays business regarding enhancement of honorarium of Anganwadi employees and reasons of delay in timely payment of honorarium to them. He said that concerned Minister has announced enhancement of Rs. 500 in the assembly during debate on grants of Social Welfare Department which need to be implemented without delay.

He has also sought reply from government regarding setting up of 4000 new AWCs across the state, for which the response of the government was that proposal for sanctioning of 3361 AWCs is under the examination of the government. While noting the government response on starred question regarding reasons of failure for enhancement of financial assistance to the beneficiaries under various categories to Rs. 1000/- per month as promised in 2015-16 Budget Speech, pending details of pension cases and beneficiaries under various schemes including National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS),where the government has said that this demand is under active consideration but it has shortage of funds , the CPI (M) leader said that these poorer sections of the society are without assistance for months together, how could they survive, he questioned.
