Chandigarh , 04 Oct 2012

Sant Nirankari Mandal Chandigarh Parmukh Rev. Mohinder Singh Ji told that Thirty-one couples tied their nuptial knot at a mass marriage ceremony organized by the Social Welfare Department of the Sant Nirankari Mission here yesterday.  The mass marriages were organized in a simple ceremony held at Samagam Ground, Burari Road, ahead of the 65th Annual Nirankari Sant Samagam scheduled to be held on November 3, 4 and 5, 2012.  While His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj, Nirankari Rajmata Kulwant Kaur Ji and Pujya Mata Sawinder Ji blessed the couples, thousands of devotees including the parents, friends and relatives of the brides and bridegrooms, attended the ceremony. Among the bridegrooms, 13 belonged to Delhi, 6 to Haryana, 4 to Uttar Pradesh, 2 each to Gujarat and Punjab and one each to Assam, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.  Among brides, 11 came from Delhi, 7 from Uttar Pradesh, 4 from Haryana, 2 from Punjab and one each from Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. The Mass Marriages were marked by 14 inter-state weddings.  Caste is not counted as a factor for marriage in the Sant Nirankari Mission. The simple ceremony was marked by the traditional Jaymala followed by a Common Garland for each couple – a special feature of a Nirankari wedding.  Four Lawan were recited by singers with full spirit of devotion.  After each of them, His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj, Nirankari Rajmata Kulwant Kaur Ji and  Pujya Mata Sawinder Ji showered the flower-petals from the dais.  The devotees also joined them in showering the flowers. Blessing the newly wedded couples, His Holiness said that the families participating in mass marriage ceremony are already spiritually enlightened an living life based on Satsang, Sewa and Simran.  Baba Ji further added that the couples giving priority to spirituality in life meet social responsibilities more successfully, enjoy happiness and bliss in life.  Not only the newly wedded couples but each and every member of the family need to adopt virtues of love, tolerance, broadmindedness, selflessness and giving respect to each other.  These virtues create atmosphere of happiness and enjoyment in family.  Couples blessed with God-knowledge are devotees first than spouse to each other as constant link with Almighty enables them to fulfill their worldly responsibilities with better happiness. His Holiness said that family is a unit where every member has his own responsibilities whether young or old.  It is, therefore, imperative that while the brides and bridegrooms respect their elders, the latter too extend their love towards them.  Moreover, all worldly responsibilities may be fulfilled while remaining in constant link with the Almighty.  The mass marriages are gradually becoming popular in the Sant Nirankari Mission.  Prior to this, the Mission organized a similar function in Delhi on February 25, 2012 where 21 couples tied their nuptial knot
