Former Chief Minister of J&K and National Conference Working President Mr. Omar Abdullah on Tuesday inaugurated his second constituency office in Beerwah within a year and announced the allocation of 21 lakh rupees for 14 wards of Beerwah Constituency for various developmental works. He announced that a further 60 lakhs would be released in the coming few days for additional developmental works from the Constituency Development Fund. Mr. Omar Abdullah also dedicated four ambulances for a collective value of 60 lakh rupees for Khaag Poshkar, Narbal and Magam.Lashing out at the PDP-BJP Alliance, Omar Abdullah said the ambiguity in Govt formation had adversely affected the political atmosphere in the State and had thrown the State into an apparently indefinite period of uncertainty.

“PDP’s efforts to maintain ambiguity over Govt formation are based on the presumption that this delay can be marketed as some sort of a moral stand that the party has suddenly found. Now that Mehbooba Mufti has herself admitted that the people of J&K did not benefit from the 10 month long PDP-BJP Government, one wonders who the actual beneficiary of this alliance was. With every passing day, the uncertainty in J&K keeps growing and for a State torn by conflict and political turmoil – this has potential long-term implication on peace and stability,” the NC Working President said while addressing party workers in Beerwah. The National Conference Working President said PDP was again out to form a Government with those people who were now openly advocating “one, last open war” against the Muslims of the country. “Are these the people PDP continues to be in an alliance with? The people of J&K have witnessed how the atmosphere within the State has been communally polarized since the PDP-BJP Alliance came into being. Sometimes truck drivers from Kashmir are burnt alive in Udhampur and at other times RSS is allowed to brandish weapons and hold marches through towns to harass and intimidate minorities. Was this the change PDP had promised?” the NC Working President added.

The National Conference Working President said if PDP was in fact actually demanding something from the BJP or the Central Government, allegedly for the interests of the State and its people as a pre-requisite for Government formation, they should let the people know what those demands are.“Mehbooba Mufti should tell the people what she has demanded from the Central Government. Otherwise PDP can try to market any routine development as a demand they had sought from the Central Government and use this as a fig-leaf to justify its second imminent sellout,” Omar Abdullah said.Omar Abdullah met dozens of public delegations and directed the local administration to redress their grievances in a timely and effective manner. A total of more than 3 crores has been spent on developmental works in Beerwah till date with the 32 crore Beerwah-Budgam Road project approved – with which a long pending demand of the locals has been addressed. Omar Abdullah was accompanied by NC Chief Spokesperson and MLA Budgam Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, his Political Secretary Mr. Tanvir Sadiq and Senior NC Leader and In-charge Constituency Professor Abdul Majeed Mattoo, besides various party leaders and office bearers.
