Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki unfurls National Flag at Panchkula

Haryana Governor, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki today urged the people to become active partner in resolving the problems like poverty, illiteracy, indiscipline, unemployment and corruption as these are posing a threat to our national unity, social security and prosperity. The Governor was speaking at Independence Day celebrations in Panchkula near here today.The Governor said that the India’s freedom struggle was an epoch making event in the annals of history. The movement was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s non-cooperation and non-violent struggle for freedom. Apart from this, many freedom fighters including Netaji Subhash Chander Bose, Sardar Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru, Udham Singh, Chander Shekher Azad and numerous other revolutionists also bravely fought against the British and sacrificed their lives.He also expressed his gratitude to the scientists, farmers, labourers and other builders of nation who played a vital role in development of the country.

The Governor also paid homage to former President late Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and recalled his contribution to the nation.Prof. Solanki stated that the brave people of Haryana also played dynamic role in the Freedom Movement. He felt pride that the sparkle of first freedom movement in 1857 was ignited at Ambala.Prof. Solanki praised the all round development made by Haryana state. He said that Haryana, though geographically a small State, has made phenomenal progress in every field of development and at the same time preserved its rich cultural heritage. Its credit goes to the Government as well as hardworking people of the state, he added.

He also appreciated the welfare schemes initiated by the State Government for all sections of the society, especially farmers, Scheduled Castes, weaker sections of the society, women, freedom fighters, physically disabled, traders and employees.He also greeted the people of district Panchkula on the 20th anniversary of the District as it was founded as 17th district of Haryana State on August 15, 1995.The Governor also honoured the freedom fighters and those who had brought laurels to the State in different fields. He announced a prize of Rs. five lakh for the children and Rs. two lakh for the police commandos who participated in the function.

Earlier, he unfurled the national flag and inspected the parade. Also, he paid floral tributes to the martyrs who had sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country. Contingents of Haryana Police, Home Guard, N.C.C., Scouts presented an impressive march past. The school children presented P.T. show and cultural programme in the function.Others present on the occasion included wife of Governor Mrs  Rani  Solanki and members of their family, Mr Ratan Lal Kataria MP, Mr Gyan Chand Gupta and  Mrs Latika Sharma MLAs,  senior officers of the State Government and district administration and prominent personalities of the area.
