Bangladesh war crimes tribunal gives death penalty to Siraj Master

Sheikh Sirajul Haque alias Siraj Master was given death penalty for his crimes against humanity by the International Crimes Tribunal-1 in a verdict on Tuesday. The tribunal also sentenced in prison until death to another accused in the case,  Akram Hossain of Bagerhat in the south-western Bangladesh for killing and raping civilians in his locality during the War of Liberation in 1971.The three-member panel of the International Crimes Tribunal-1 headed by its chairman Justice M Enayetur Rahim handed down the verdict.  Justice Jahangir Hossain and Justice Anwarul Haque are the other members of the panel.

The name of the third accused in the case, Abdul Latif was dropped as he had   died on July 28, 2015.Earlier, in 2009, Nimai Chadra Das, son of Jitendra Nath Das, who was killed during the War of Liberation, had filed the case with Kachua Police Station in Bagerhat district accusing the two.
