Reacting to the Hurriyat Conference hand-out issued from Srinagar stating that Syed Ali Shah Geelani had, during his closed-door meeting with Pakistan's National Security Advisor, Sartaj Aziz in New Delhi on November 10,suggested that Pakistan should stress on the UN resolution on Kashmir,BJP National Executive Member & J&K Chief Spokesperson Dr Jitendra Singh said here today, such clandestine hobnobbing between Geelani and Aziz was totally unacceptable and that Geelani's reference to UN resolution of 1947-48 defies all logic and historic perspective because the UN resolution became invalid the day Pakistan refused to comply with the resolution's basic prerequisite of withdrawing its forces from the part of Jammu & Kashmir under its occupancy.

Dr Jitendra Singh went on to recall that United Nations Security Council Resolution 47, adopted on April 21, 1948, recommended that in order to ensure the impartiality of  "plebiscite", Pakistan withdraw all tribesmen and nationals who entered the region for the purpose of fighting and that India leave only the minimum number of troops needed to keep civil order but  Pakistan ignored the UN mandate, did not withdraw its troops and continued holding on to the portion of Kashmir under its control. To put the record straight,he also reminded that the resolution was adopted paragraph by paragraph and no vote on the resolution as a whole was taken.

Taking exception to the meeting between Geelani and Aziz,Dr Jitendra Singh said, it is unprecedented in the history of the world that a State or a Government itself facilitates a closed door meeting between insurgents and their foreign sponsors on its own soil at a time when, on an average, one ceasefire violation was taking place everyday and our soldiers on borders were being beheaded by ISI sponsored terrorists. He said, the irony is that the union Home Minister went on to justify the meeting despite the BJP National President Rajnath Singh's advice to cancel it and now, when the details of the meeting are coming out,it is for the Congress led UPA Government to explain to the nation the wisdom of allowing such a meeting.

Dr Jitendra Singh said, while Congress is in dock ,being in power both at the Center as well as in the State, the ruling National Conference owes to answer the allegation that its leadership shares a tacit equation with Geelani and that is why he was released from house-arrest a few days ago with an eye on ensuing elections.Dr Jitendra Singh also questioned Geelani's own propriety to challenge the soveriegnity of Indian republic when he himself continued to receive pension as a former legislator sworn under the constitution of India and asked why the National Conference-Congress coalition is reluctant to proceed against law as applicable to any other citizen of the country.
