Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga today called for organizing seminars for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in e-commerce at district level.  He also called for seeking suggestions from the stakeholders on the implementation of e-Commerce regime in the State. The Minister was addressing a joint meeting of the officers of Industries and Commerce, representatives of Federation of Industries, Information Technology Association, CII, FCII, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry and ASSOCHAM convened here to discuss the Regulatory Framework and Guidelines for FDI in e-Commerce.The Minister said the Government of India is going to launch e-Commerce in all states and like other states Jammu and Kashmir has been also asked to give its suggestions. He said need of the hour is to discuss in detail the benefits and adverse impact of e-Commerce on retailers. He said in this regard there is a need to organize workshops and meetings with the industrialists, stakeholders and retailers so that they can give their suggestions which would be incorporated with the proposals to be prepared by the State Government for onward submission to the Central Government. Mr. Parkash directed the concerned officers to call experts of the Chambers of Commerce so that they can explain their views about the benefits of e-Commerce to be implemented in the State.

The Minister said that we have to sensitize the retailers adding that the Government is committed to provide every possible help to industrialists as well as retailers. He said we should have to benefit the consumers also and it is our prime duty to address the issues of retailers also.The Minister said that implementation of e-Commerce in the State will boost trading of handloom and handicraft products. He said the retailers have to build their capacity accordingly to get ready for e-Commerce. He, however, said that certain measures have to be taken to minimize the negative effect of e-Commerce.

Earlier, Financial Commissioner I&C, Mr. Kurshid Ahmed Ganai and Commissioner Secretary Finance, Mr. Naveen Choudhary briefed the meeting about e-Commerce.   

Director Industries and Commerce, Kashmir briefed the meeting about e-Commerce through power point presentation on the occasion.Commissioner, Commercial Taxes, Mr Zafar Ahmed, all heads of the departments of Industries and Commerce, Director NIC, Director NIET, Presidents, Federation of Chamber of Industries, Jammu/Kashmir, representatives of IT Associations, Jammu/Kashmir, representatives of CII, FCII, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry and ASSOCHAM were present at the meeting.
