The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led municipal corporations of attempting to convert Delhi into a heap of garbage and being on top among the list of most corrupt organisations.AAP passed on the blame for the woes of sanitation workers in Delhi to the BJP and the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.Terming the civic bodies of Delhi as the world's most corrupt organisations, the AAP demanded a probe into the role of the party over the issue of non-clearance of salary dues of sanitation workers.Addressing a press conference in the national capital, AAP leader Dilip Pandey alleged that the funds meant for workers' salaries were used for other purposes.Pointing out that Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had allocated Rs.2,000 crore for the MCD, the AAP alleged that not even a single rupee had reached the beneficiaries.

Senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh accused the BJP of trying to "convert Delhi into a garbage dump".He said the MCD was demanding more money from the state government despite receiving some funds.Referring to instances of alleged corruption in Delhi's civic bodies, Singh said that the MCD had as many as 22,000 ghost employees."The people of Delhi are being punished because they voted for Aam Aadmi Party. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung are punishing the people of Delhi," he said.

"All MLAs of the Aam Aadmi Party will start "Safai Abhiyaan" (cleanliness drive) in their respective areas.""The MLAs will also take out rallies in all the 272 wards of Delhi to create awareness about the misdoings of the BJP-governed MCD," Singh added.Earlier on Friday, the Delhi High Court asked the Arvind Kejriwal government to release the pending salaries of MCD workers by June 15.
