The Security policy of the Akali Govt. in Punjab is far away from the prescribed National policy where security is provided to high-risk inpiduals by the police and local Govt.  Here the needy are neglected and only the protegs of Badals are honoured with security cover for status said Dr.Ranu National President of the Sehajdhari Sikh Party. Depending upon the threat perceptions to the person, there are only four types of security categories namely X,Y,Z and Z+(Highest level). Z+ category has a security cover of 36 personnel, Z category has a security cover of 11 personnel,Y category has a security cover of 2 personnel,X category has a security cover of 1 personnel. Though the Depuy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal who handles the Home Department also has made a drastic change in the system by withdrwing the unauthorised security provided to persons by the Police officials from Distric head quarters or local Police stations but how will he pace with the difference of the teeth of elephants which differ for showing and eating. 11 Security personals equivalent to the Z category had been provided to persons who are no where in the Govt. nor they hold any strong official position in politics but merely they tag a name of Badal family behind their name and work as touts for the Govt. They are themselves threat to the public and no one can dare to threat them but they claim that they have threat perceptions. Security has been provide to property dealers, negotiators and touts of the Govt. Certain leaders of opposition parties have been provided security as they had been instrumental for helping to re-elect the Govt. as they ditched their own parent parties. Some private TV Channel owners and Journalist have been provided gunmen as a they were used for getting news published in favour of the Govt. during election campaigns. Some Babas and Dharam Gurus of particular Sects who have some vote bank and are pro Akalis have been provided protection by the State Govt. Unfortunately a DGP rank retired Officer who had been fighting against terrorism for his whole life had been provided only two gunmen. The persons on high risk have been left without security. Pick and Choose is the main policy of security for the Punjab Government now says Dr.Ranu. Many local leaders are seen putting red lights on their vehicles with red turbanned and black dressed Gunmens creating terror in the public at public places and functions.Actual threat perceptions should be taken into consideration and then only security should be provided to the needy . Dr.Ranu said that many times information was sought from the Police Headquaters regarding policy of security by the Sehajdhari Sikh Party that how many Gun men are deployed to how many VIP’s in Punjab and what are the designations of the degnatories enjoying the Security cover and on whose orders the security has been provided to these persons but the answer has been in two lines by the Police authorities that the Security matter is a sensitive issue and it has been kept abaince from the RTI Act and no such information can be supplied.
