Gurgaon doctors booked for boy's death during treatment

Seven doctors of a hospital here have been booked for causing the death of a 10-year-old boy under their treatment nearly four years ago, police said Sunday.An FIR was registered against the doctors at the Sadar police station following directions from a district court here Saturday.Doctors of super speciality private hospital - Medanta The Medicity - have been charged with culpable homoside not amounting to murder, death due to negligence, and preparing and using forged documents, a police officer said.The boy - Yash Arora - was admitted to the hospital in March 2010 for treatment of liver.After examination, doctors suggested liver transplant. Following the operation, the medical condition of the boy and his mother, who was the donor, started to deteriorate.

"According to the FIR, the boy died in July 2011 while he was under observation of doctors (in Medanta)," Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajesh Kumar told IANS.The boy's father Pankaj Arora tried his best to lodge an FIR against doctors but police never took his complaint seriously.Later, he approached the court of judicial magistrate, which ordered police to file an FIR against the doctors, including medical superintendent A.K. Dubey.Police are yet to arrest anyone.The hospital management has refused to comment.
