Strongly condemning the forcible conversion of Muslims near Agra in Utter Pradesh and the claim of Sangh Parivar to convert hundreds of thousands of more Muslims and Christians to Hinduism, senior leader of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (JKPDP) and Member Parliament, Tariq Hameed Karra today termed it a direct assault on the rights of the minorities in the country.“India is a secular country and religion is a matter of personal preference but the dangerous way the Sangh Parivar and its frontal organizations like RSS and Bajrang Dal are aiming at changing the demographic picture of the country is extremely alarming,” Karra said while addressing road-side election meetings in Hazratbal assembly segment here.

Karra said the Sangh Parivar is apparently in a hurry and is taking advantage of the BJP’s ascendance to power to convert India into a Hindu Rashtra, an objective that would be resisted by all right thinking people in the country. He said the Sangh has similar designs for Jammu and Kashmir also but the PDP is emerging as the first choice of the people which would ensure that the perse and inclusive character of the State is preserved at any cost.Karra said it is sad that Gandhi’s India is being subjected to fascist means for achieving the pisive and disruptive agenda of Sangh Parivar. He said while religion is a matter of personal preference the Sangh is using coercion and allurements to make people change their faith as has been done with the 200 deprived and hapless Muslims in Madhunagar area of Agra.

Karra said Sangh Parivar had tried to use same dubious tactics through its proxies and cronies in Jammu and Kashmir to pide the majority vote and leave them politically disempowered. “However, the emancipated voters of Jammu and Kashmir foiled the Sangh Parivar’s nefarious designs by handing-down a decisive mandate to the PDP as is evident from the first three phases of the ongoing assembly elections,” he said and expressed the hope that the people of the State would continue to extend similar support to the party in the remaining two phases of the polls.

Addressing the gatherings, senior PDP leader Moulvi Imran Ansari said having lost the ground, National Conference leaders are now trying to exploit Kashmir’s pain for political gains by indulging in absurd theatrics. “While people in every nook and corner of J&K are suffering immensely because of the complete collapse of governance, NC leaders have reverted back to the outdated tactics of emotional blackmail to exploit the public sentiment,” he said and added that the reign of repression let loose by the NC-Congress coalition regime on the hapless youth is pushing the State towards another phase of instability and strife.“As the people were trying to recoup with the tragedies of turmoil, unfortunately,  NC leaders have started pushing Kashmir back into a turbulent situation, as it suits the party’s political interests,” Imran said adding that  there seems to be complete anarchy in the state at present with repression and alienation going up dangerously.Imran said although New Delhi has never given such unflinching support to any Chief Minister in J&K as was given to Omar Abdullah, but unfortunately five years down the line, Omar Abdullah instead of using this support for public good has presided over the complete collapse of governance in J&K.

He said when the present Government will be voted out by the people towards the end of this year, if anything, it would be remembered as the darkest era for J&K for recurrence of killings by unidentified gunmen, wanton arrests, mounting sense of insecurity, socio-economic instability, frightening increase in crime rate, menacing drug abuse, deaths in road rage, vanishing rule of law, rampant corruption, institutional degradation, misgovernance, dilapidated roads, power shortage, drinking water scarcity, unemployment, maladministration, spurious medicines, frustrating traffic snarls  and countless other anti-people measures.

PDP candidate for Hazratbal constituency Asiya Naqash also addressed the gatherings.
