The 66th Raising day of NCC was today celebrated at New Complex Site of NCC, at Sector-31,Chandigarh.On arrival Maj Gen GS Chima VSM ,Additional Director General(ADG) NCC Punjab ,Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh Directorate , received a impressive Guard of Honour by tri- Service Units of NCC. Flag Hoisting honour was given to Brig Kuldeep Singh Kang (Retd) Deputy Director General (DDG),NCC. Gen Chima complemented the good work of NCC Group at Chandigarh and interacted with Cadets from various Colleges and Schools, over a High Tea. He stressed the need to discipline one self, have pride in uniform they are wearing ,help society in nation building.Wg Cdr Jaideep Singh Jeji ,Commanding Officer ,1 Chd Air Sqn,NCC, informed NCC has grown in size over the years from 1948 to todays strength over 15 lakh Cadets, almost comprising 6% Student strength of the Nation, headed by Director General Lt Gen A Chakravarty VSM . We have 17 Directorates covering entire country ,headed mostly by ADGs of rank of Maj General / equavelent , further at districts we have Group Commander of the rank of Brigadier / equavelent and units of three services commanded by Colonel / equivalent rank.

Lt SS Salaria ,Captain Vikram Batra was awarded Param Veer Chakra posthumously was Cadet of 1 Chandigarh Air Sqn,NCC, 25 Raksha Mantri Padaks , 25 Raksha Mantri Commendation Cards and list continues , are a few to have done NCC and the nation proud.
