Authorities on Friday placed Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest at his Nigeen residence and did not allow him to deliver his Friday sermon and offer prayers at the historic Jamia masjid here.In a statement to KNS a spokesman of the Hurriyat (M) appealed to the international community and Muslim countries to intervene and ensure the safety of the lives of Kashmiri people “against continuous human rights violation.”Terming the continuous house detention, particularly again on this Friday, of Mirwaz as direct violation in the religious matters, he said, “Social political and religious rights of Mirwaiz- religious head of Kashmir- were being trampled upon by the state time again.”Meanwhile, on the appeal of Hurriyat (M), Imams and Khateebs along with general public protested at their respective Masjids, Imam Baras and Shrines against the killing of two youths at Chattergam by army. They also condemned the atrocious incident terming it as barbaric act on part of security agencies.

Senior Hurriyat (M) leaders Moulana Abbas Ansari protested against the innocent killings at Masjid-e-Sajadia Chattabal, whereas another senior leader  Agha Syed Hassan Al Moosvi at Imam Bara Budgam, Musadiq Adil at Sopore, GN Zaki at historical Jamia Masjid Srinagar, and other leaders at Khanq-e-Moula Sopore, Masjid-e-Baba Yousuf Sopore and Kuhsaal Matoo Sopore, he said. Hurriyat leader Abdul Rashid  Untoo denounced the innocent killings during his speech at Masjid-e-Sulaiman Farsi , Hakim Abdul Rashid spoke at Bota Kadal, while senior Hurriyat leader G.N. War spoke at Kunan Poshpura masjid.

Senior Hurriyat leader Javaid Ahmad Mir visited the house of two martyrs in Nowgam and delivered the condolence message on behalf of Hurriyat chairman. While speaking to the family members of the martyred youth over phone, Mirwaiz expressed his profound grief over their martyrdom and assured the bereaved family members that Hurriyat along with the valiant people of Kashmir stood along with them in these times of sorrow and grief.During their addresses in different Masjids, Shrines and Imam Baras, Hurriyat leaders denounced the killing of innocent youth and continuous house arrest of Mirwaiz.  The leaders demanded immediate revocation of AFSPA and other draconian laws which provide impunity and immunity to the Indian troops.
