Tripura is aiming to attract investment proposals worth nearly Rs 1 lakh crore across key sectors during the two-day Destination Tripura Business Conclave-2026, which is scheduled to begin on July 9, Chief Minister Manik Saha said on Sunday.

Ahead of the flagship event, the Chief Minister chaired a high-level review meeting at the Hapania International Fair Ground auditorium and directed officials to ensure the successful conduct of the conclave, which is being organised on such a large scale for the first time in the state.

Addressing the meeting, CM Saha stressed the importance of attracting both domestic and foreign investments to generate employment, enhance per capita income and strengthen Tripura's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). He said such business summits play a vital role in accelerating economic growth and transforming the state's investment landscape.

The Chief Minister said that the country is undergoing rapid transformation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has inspired both public representatives and government employees to adopt a work culture dedicated to national development and public welfare.

Referring to the successful organisation of major events such as the G-20 meetings and the North Eastern Council (NEC) plenary session, CM Saha said officials and employees from different departments had worked together as “Team Tripura”, expressing confidence that the upcoming business conclave would also be a grand success through coordinated efforts.

He informed the meeting that the state government is targeting investment proposals worth around Rs 1 lakh crore during this year's conclave, with significant opportunities expected in sectors such as healthcare, education, information technology, transport and tourism.

The Chief Minister also highlighted that Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth nearly Rs 30,000 crore were signed during last year’s business conclave, of which projects valued at around Rs 8,000 crore have already entered the implementation stage.

He offered several suggestions to officials to ensure smooth execution of the event and effective coordination among all participating departments. Giving an overview of the conclave, Industries and Commerce Department Secretary Kiran Gitte said the event would commence on the afternoon of July 9.

The inaugural session will be attended by Chief Minister, Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya Scindia, members of the state cabinet and other dignitaries.  More than 20 exhibition stalls showcasing the initiatives and investment potential of various state government departments and Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) will be set up at the venue.

Around 500 delegates from India and abroad are expected to participate in the conclave. Embassies, High Commissions and international consultants from several countries have been invited, with representatives from Bangladesh, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, the Maldives, Nepal and Uzbekistan already confirming their participation.

Representatives from Russia and Indonesia have also expressed interest in attending the event. The conclave will focus on investment opportunities in healthcare, tourism, education, logistics, information technology, renewable energy, real estate, food processing, and industries based on tea, rubber and agar products.

Besides departmental exhibitions, the event will feature direct interactions between investors and the Chief Minister and state ministers, round-table business meetings, sector-specific presentations, discussions on business and economic reforms, and MoU signing ceremonies.

The conclave is being organised in partnership with the leading industry bodies of the country. Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha said the successful organisation of the event would significantly enhance Tripura's profile at both the national and international levels.

He noted that Tripura currently ranks first in the country in legal simplification measures across several sectors and said senior officials from the Central government are also likely to attend the conclave to assess the impact of these reforms. Principal Secretary Santanu, Director General of Police Anurag, and senior officials from various departments attended the review meeting.

Earlier, the Chief Minister accompanied by senior officials visited the exhibition stalls under construction at the venue and reviewed the preparations, while offering necessary suggestions to officials for the successful conduct of the conclave.
