Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday inaugurated development projects and inspected key public infrastructure works in the Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency and Pitampura, promising to develop modern infrastructure to mitigate water-logging and sewage problems.

Chief Minister Gupta said the Delhi government’s objective is not merely to inaugurate new projects but to ensure the timely, high-quality and effective implementation of every scheme. She said the government regularly reviews development projects through area-wise inspections to ensure citizens receive better basic infrastructure, modern public services, and a clean, safe, and developed environment.

The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure the effective operation and regular monitoring of all projects to prevent residents from facing any inconvenience during the monsoon. She inspected the NP Block Dispensary, where she reviewed healthcare services, the availability of medicines, medical equipment and other public facilities.

She instructed health officials to ensure that every citizen receives quality and timely healthcare services, adding that negligence at any level will not be tolerated. During the visit, she reviewed the progress of ongoing works related to park beautification, modern drainage systems, sewerage management, healthcare services, irrigation infrastructure and technical education institutions, and directed officials to complete all projects within the stipulated timeline while maintaining high-quality standards.

The Chief Minister began her visit by inaugurating the development and beautification works at BD-FD Park in Pitampura. She also inaugurated 93 newly installed electric poles and the park's modern lighting system, and said the Delhi government is undertaking large-scale efforts to make public parks across the Capital safer, more attractive, and more convenient for citizens.

Well-developed green spaces not only play an important role in environmental conservation but also improve people's health and quality of life. She then inaugurated a series of projects undertaken by the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to strengthen the rainwater drainage and sewerage network in the Shalimar Bagh area.

These include the construction of precast drainage systems on both sides from DT Mall to CA Block, a modern drainage network from CA Block to Shalimar Village Chowk Underpass, from the RUB to GT Karnal Road (Azadpur Mandi Gate), and from Shalimar Chowk to DA Block.

An additional sewage pumping station, along with its associated delivery line, was also inaugurated to provide a permanent solution to the long-pending sewerage problems in Shalimar Village, Sahipur Village, and the surrounding areas. The Chief Minister later inspected the Munak Canal at Singhalpur and received updates from officials of the Irrigation and Flood Control Department on water flow, canal maintenance, cleaning arrangements and water management.

She directed officials to ensure the conservation of canals and other water bodies, along with their regular cleaning, to strengthen both water supply and environmental balance. She also visited the Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University Kasturba Campus in Pitampura, where she reviewed the institution's academic and technical facilities, training infrastructure and skill development programmes being offered to students.

She said the Delhi government is continuously investing in employment-oriented and modern technical education so that young people can access better opportunities aligned with industry requirements.
