IIHMR University Brings Together Healthcare Leaders from Nine Nations to Strengthen Global Health Systems

IIHMR University has commenced the International Training Program on Transformational Leadership for Health System Strengthening (TLHSS) under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Scheme of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.

The two-week programme, being held from June 29 to July 10, 2026, has brought together 19 healthcare professionals from nine countries including Belarus, Bhutan, Fiji, Kenya, Nepal, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, and Tanzania, to build leadership capabilities and promote cross-border collaboration in healthcare.

The inaugural session was presided over by Dr. P. R. Sodani, President, IIHMR University, who shared, “Healthcare challenges today transcend national boundaries, making global collaboration and visionary leadership more important than ever. 

The programme serves as an international platform for participants to learn from India's healthcare management practices while sharing experiences from their respective countries. The initiative reflects India's growing role in fostering global partnerships for strengthening health systems and advancing sustainable healthcare outcomes.”

Over the course of the programme, participants will receive multidisciplinary training covering key domains including health systems, health economics and financing, logistics and supply chain management, pharmaceutical business environment, healthcare analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning, deep learning, implementation science, brand building, pharmaceutical marketing, promotion of medical devices, data visualization, R for Analytics, development studies, and the Indian and global economy.

The programme is coordinated by Ms. Kirti Agarwal, Assistant Professor and ITEC Coordinator, IIHMR University. By bringing together healthcare professionals from diverse geographies, the university aims to strengthen international cooperation, encourage the exchange of best practices, and contribute to building future-ready health systems.
