Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Shrikant Suse, today chaired a Block Diwas programme at the far-flung village of Budnambal in Block Chowkibal to take a first-hand appraisal of public issues, review the developmental needs of the area, and strengthen public service delivery.

The programme was attended by district and sectoral officers, besides a large gathering of local residents. During the interaction, the Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing to the grievances and demands projected by the people.

The issues raised included improvement of road and mobile connectivity, augmentation of electricity supply, provision of safe drinking water, improvement of healthcare facilities, filling of staff vacancies in educational institutions, completion of pending works under the Rural Development Department (RDD) and the Public Works Department (PWD), and assessment of crop losses caused by the recent spell of heavy rainfall.

The Deputy Commissioner assured the public that all genuine grievances would be examined on merit and addressed in a time-bound manner. He directed the concerned officers to take immediate cognizance of the issues pertaining to their respective departments and ensure their prompt redressal through coordinated action.

He reiterated that the District Administration remains committed to ensuring equitable development in the remote and border areas of the district. Later, the Deputy Commissioner visited the Health Centre at Budnambal to review its functioning and assess the availability of healthcare facilities.

He inspected the stock of essential medicines and reviewed the overall healthcare delivery mechanism. He directed the Block Medical Officer, Kralpora, to ensure punctuality and regular attendance of staff, maintain adequate stocks of essential medicines, and provide efficient, accessible, and quality healthcare services to the people.
