Health Minister Ms. Arti Singh Rao described the MoU as a historic step for the healthcare sector in the state. Appreciating the collaboration between the Government and Medanta, she said that this partnership reflects the Government’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and health outcomes in remote areas through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
She expressed confidence that the initiative would significantly improve maternal and child health indicators in the region and ensure access to quality healthcare services closer to people’s homes. She said that under this partnership, the Ateli Health Centre is proposed to be upgraded into a 50-bed Sub-Divisional Hospital. Similar improvements will subsequently be undertaken at Meerpur in Rewari district and Farrukhnagar in Gurugram district.
The primary objective of this strategic partnership is to enhance access to quality healthcare services for women, newborns, and children through improved infrastructure, specialist healthcare services, capacity building of healthcare personnel, and community outreach programmes.
Chairman, Medanta Foundation, Dr. Naresh Trehan, said that under the agreement, the Foundation will extend full support in establishing a dedicated Caesarean Section Operation Theatre at Ateli, renovating the labour room, installing ultrasound and diagnostic equipment, strengthening maternal and neonatal care services, and setting up an anaemia screening clinic.
Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, Dr. Sumita Misra, said that the Foundation will also ensure the availability of specialist medical manpower through an approved service provider, including gynaecologists, paediatricians, anaesthetists, and radiologists. This unique initiative will provide the local population with several critical services, including preventive and curative outpatient (OPD) care, cancer screening for women, point-of-care diagnostic testing, Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) facilities for newborns, ambulance support, and regular community health outreach camps.
She further informed that the agreement has initially been signed for a period of three years and may be extended further with mutual consent. Under this arrangement, the Health Department will provide the necessary infrastructure, utilities, medicines, laboratory and diagnostic support, while Medanta Foundation will contribute technical expertise, equipment, capacity building, and specialist healthcare services.
Ms. Arti Singh Rao expressed confidence that this collaboration would prove to be a significant milestone in the efforts to strengthen healthcare services in Haryana and ensure better health outcomes for the people of the state.
