Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh today called upon legislators and public representatives to dedicate themselves to the four key pillars of the Viksit Bharat vision—youth, the poor, women, and farmers. He said that the dream of an inclusive and developed India envisioned by Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi is a collective national responsibility.

The Governor was addressing the Presiding Officers and distinguished delegates during the valedictory session of the 2nd Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), India Region Zone-II North Zone Conference held in Chandigarh. Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Sh. Harvinder Kalyan and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the conference, Prof. Ghosh said that parliamentary democracy is not limited to law-making alone; it also includes ensuring accountability while carrying everyone along. This, he said, accelerates grassroots development and ensures that the benefits of progress reach the last person in society.

He urged the representatives to devote their energy, time, and resources to empowering the underprivileged and resource-constrained sections of society, describing them as the foundation of India’s long-term development strategy. Expressing satisfaction over the deliberations held during the conference, Prof. Ghosh said that discussions on the theme, “The Role of Legislators and an Aware Society in Achieving the Goals of Viksit Bharat 2047 and Understanding Future Challenges,” were enlightening, visionary, and of a high standard.

He stated that such meaningful dialogue strengthens democratic institutions and helps provide a clear direction for the nation’s future. The Governor also thanked Lok Sabha Speaker Sh. Om Birla for taking the important initiative of bringing representatives from various legislatures onto a common platform.

He noted that the conference provided a valuable opportunity for discussions on parliamentary democracy, legislative processes, democratic governance, and issues of common interest among different legislative bodies. Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh appealed to all participating representatives to carry the suggestions, recommendations, and ideas emerging from the conference back to their respective legislatures and institutions, and contribute meaningfully towards building an inclusive and prosperous Viksit Bharat.

Congratulating the Haryana Vidhan Sabha and its Speaker Sh. Harvinder Kalyan for the successful organization of the conference, the Governor appreciated the excellent arrangements made for the delegates, which played a significant role in the success of the event. Lok Sabha Speaker Sh. Om Birla said that the dream of Viksit Bharat can be realized only by ensuring public participation in legislative institutions, promoting the use of technology, involving citizens in law and policy-making, and creating greater social awareness.

He emphasized the need to work with renewed energy and capability while enhancing participation in the roadmap for a developed India. He stated that all participants would work towards implementing the four resolutions adopted during the conference.

He further said that ensuring benefits reach the last person in society is a shared responsibility. Efforts would be made to increase public participation in state institutions, with greater involvement of women and youth.

He stressed the importance of taking the spirit of the Constitution to every citizen so that people become aware of their duties towards the nation. Sh. Birla said that public representatives must strive to meet the aspirations and expectations of the people.

The vision of Viksit Bharat rests on strong institutions, and therefore support must be extended towards strengthening them, including through budgetary allocations. To earn the trust of the people, representatives must work sincerely to promote awareness and participation across society.

He added that in this era of rapid transformation, strengthening communication and dialogue with citizens is essential for laying a strong foundation for a developed India.Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Sh. Harivansh Narayan Singh also shared detailed insights about the conference.

Haryana Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker Dr. Krishan Lal Middha expressed gratitude to the representatives who had attended from various states. On the concluding day of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region North Zone Conference, a presentation on Artificial Intelligence (AI) was also showcased.
