Following an incident in Moonak where several individuals — including women, men, children, and elderly persons — suddenly fell ill after consuming food at a wedding function, they were admitted to the Civil Hospital, Moonak, while some were shifted to private hospitals. Many of them are still undergoing treatment. Taking the matter seriously, Cabinet Minister Advocate Barinder Kumar Goyal directed the Civil Surgeon Sangrur, the SDM, and other officials to immediately reach the hospital and ensure proper treatment and all necessary facilities for the patients.

He further instructed that until all patients fully recover, the health department and administrative officials would monitor the situation round the clock. Following these directions, officials from both the health and administrative departments visited the hospital and reviewed the treatment process and facilities being provided to the patients.

Medical treatment was expedited, and teams of doctors from different cities were called in to provide every possible medical facility. Some patients were also referred to Sangrur for further treatment.

Today, Cabinet Minister Advocate Barinder Kumar Goyal personally visited the Civil Hospital, Moonak, to inquire about the well-being of the patients and expressed satisfaction with the arrangements. On the occasion, he also obtained detailed information regarding the entire incident from health department officials, doctors, and administrative officers, and reviewed the ongoing treatment of the patients.

He thanked God that all the patients are now out of danger. He further informed that teams of doctors from Kohrian, Sangrur, Bhawanigarh, and Lehragaga are treating the patients.

A team of specialist doctors from Patiala is also reaching Moonak Hospital. The Civil Surgeon, Sangrur, is personally supervising the entire treatment process, and discussions have also taken place with the Director Health to ensure that there is no deficiency in the treatment of the patients.

He stated that no negligence or delay in treatment would be tolerated. Three ambulances have been kept ready on-site to handle any emergency situation. All the patients expressed satisfaction with the medical facilities being provided at the hospital.

Centre should enact strict laws against food adulteration

Cabinet Minister Barinder Goyal stated that the Central Government should enact strict laws across the country against adulteration in milk and other food items so that such incidents caused by adulteration can be prevented.
