Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Mrs. Komal Mittal today held a meeting with representatives of various political parties regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls scheduled to commence in the district from June 25, 2026. Training for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) will be conducted from June 15 to June 24, 2026.
During the meeting, she urged all political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents for every polling booth to make the Special Intensive Revision exercise more transparent, inclusive and error-free. She said that the BLAs would also assist Booth Level Officers in filling Enumeration Forms for every eligible voter.
She informed that the revision process is being carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission and emphasized that the active participation of political parties would help ensure the accuracy and authenticity of electoral rolls. The Deputy Commissioner stated that Booth Level Officers are already carrying out field-level verification and updating electoral data.
She added that the BLAs appointed by political parties can coordinate with BLOs and help identify discrepancies, if any, in voters’ details. Mrs. Komal Mittal further said that the cooperation of all stakeholders is essential to ensure that no eligible voter is left out and no ineligible entry remains in the electoral rolls.
She informed that house-to-house visits will be conducted from June 25 to July 24, 2026 for filling Enumeration Forms of every voter before the publication of the draft electoral roll on July 31, 2026. During the same period, rationalisation of polling locations will also be undertaken and completed by July 24, 2026.
She further stated that claims and objections regarding the draft electoral rolls can be submitted from July 31 to August 30, 2026. The notice period and disposal of claims and objections will continue from July 31 to September 28, 2026, following which the final electoral rolls will be published on October 1, 2026.
The Deputy Commissioner urged representatives of political parties to submit the lists of Booth Level Agents at the earliest. She informed that BLOs have already started pre-mapping of voters and so far 66.03 percent of the data has been mapped.
Highlighting the rapid urbanisation in SAS Nagar district, she said there is a need for special attention towards every vote registered after 2003 to ensure proper verification and accuracy of voter records. She appealed to all political parties to actively participate in the revision process and extend full cooperation to the district administration in conducting a fair, transparent and comprehensive electoral roll revision exercise.
